Dr. Smith is Professor of Imaging Sciences at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, NY. He is a board certified nuclear medical scientist and a Fellow of the American College of Nuclear Physicians.

 He has published extensively on RIS/PACS integration, enterprise PACS, archive implementation, fault tolerance and disaster recovery.  He is on the editorial boards of several healthcare publications. Dr. Smith is active in numerous professional organizations including, Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR), Society of Nuclear Medicine and The American College of Nuclear Physicians.

 Dr. Smith serves on the Clinical Advisory Boards and provides consulting services to several PACS and RIS companies. In addition, he provides consulting services to hospital IDNs and private imaging centers.

 Dr. Smith is conference director for an annual PACS conference serving both the user community and industry providers of  RIS/PACS and related services. The conference topics range from the fundamentals of RIS, PACS and medical informatics to more advanced topics of archiving, disaster recovery, clinical applications and regulatory issues.

 Dr. Smith earned a BS in chemical engineering, a MS in sanitary engineering and his ScD in radiological sciences from The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
